Odvanta

Terms of Service

Last updated: 9 October 2026 · Effective: 9 October 2026

Please have a lawyer review this before relying on it. This is a strong, specific draft for a sole-proprietor CAT-prep platform under Indian law (IT Act 2000, DPDP Act 2023, Consumer Protection Act 2019) — not legal advice. Before launch, have an advocate confirm the refund window, the liability cap, the auto-renewal mechanics, and the GST position.

1. Who we are

Odvanta ("Odvanta", "we", "us", "our") is a proprietorship owned and operated by Mr. Manoj Kumar Sahu, sole proprietor, trading as "Odvanta". Udyam Reg. No. UDYAM-WB-14-0314641. Principal place of business: J-164, DLF Newtown Heights, Tower-J, Major Arterial Road, New Town, Kolkata, West Bengal 700135, India. Contact: support@odvanta.com.

Odvanta runs an online preparation platform for CAT and other MBA-entrance exams (the "Platform"): a question bank, tests, mock exams, past papers, and personalised analytics. By creating an account, accepting these Terms at sign-up, or using the Platform, you ("you", the "User") agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

2. Eligibility & age

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. It is intended for adults (CAT and most MBA-entrance exams require a completed bachelor's degree); it is not directed to, and we do not knowingly allow use by, anyone under 18.

3. Your account & security

Provide accurate registration details (name, email, target exam) and keep them current. We authenticate you by email one-time passcode (OTP) or "Sign in with Google"; you are responsible for the email/Google account you sign in with and for all activity under your account. One account is for one person — it may not be shared, resold, or transferred. Tell us promptly at support@odvanta.com if you suspect unauthorised use.

4. What the Service is (and is not)

Odvanta is a study aid and decision-support tool: a question bank with original solutions, topic drills, timed topic/sectional tests and mocks, past-paper practice, and Intelligence Features (personalised analytics — weak areas, mastery, mistake journal, a suggested "next right move"). These analytics are statistical estimates from your activity, offered only as a study aid. They are not predictions of your real exam score or percentile and not a substitute for your own study. See Section 9.

5. Acceptable use & anti-piracy

You will not: copy, scrape, crawl, harvest, bulk-download, mirror, republish, redistribute, sell, or resell any content (questions, solutions, analytics), in whole or part; use bots or automated tools to access or extract it; share content to any person, channel, or site (free or paid); circumvent security, access-control, or rate-limiting; reverse-engineer the Platform (except where law forbids this restriction); probe or disrupt it or introduce malware; or use it unlawfully. Content is for your own personal, non-commercial exam preparation only. Breach may lead to immediate suspension or termination and legal action (including under the IT Act 2000 and Copyright Act 1957).

6. Intellectual property

All content other than the text of past-paper questions is owned by or licensed to Odvanta; you get a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it for your own exam prep. Past-paper questions remain the property of their respective exam bodies and/or rights-holders — we do not claim ownership of them and provide our own original solutions, explanations, and analysis around them. "Odvanta", our logo, and taglines are our marks. Rights-holders with a concern can contact support@odvanta.com.

7. Your content & feedback

You keep ownership of feedback, ratings, bug reports, and ideas you submit, but grant Odvanta a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to use and incorporate them into the Platform and our business, with no obligation to compensate or credit you. You confirm your submissions are your own and lawful.

8. Payments, subscriptions, auto-renewal, cancellation & refunds

Some features may require a paid Subscription (planned; may not be live yet). Prices and billing cycles are shown at purchase and form part of these Terms. Payments are processed by Razorpay; Odvanta never collects, sees, or stores your full card number, CVV, or other complete payment details.

GST: Odvanta is not registered for GST (below the threshold), so no GST is charged on or added to the prices shown and no GST invoice is issued. This changes if we become liable to register.

Auto-renewal: unless sold as a one-time purchase, Subscriptions renew automatically each cycle at the then-current price using your registered payment mandate until you cancel; we try to notify you before renewals and price changes. Cancellation: cancel anytime in Settings or via support@odvanta.com — it stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid cycle. Refunds: we offer a 10-day refund window — request a full refund within 10 calendar days of initial purchase at support@odvanta.com, provided you have not substantially consumed the paid content (we may decline or pro-rate where a large share of premium questions/tests has been attempted). Renewals and purchases older than 10 days are non-refundable except where required by law or where we cannot provide a paid feature you paid for. Approved refunds go to the original payment method via Razorpay (typically 5–10 business days).

9. No guarantee of results; no percentile promise

We do not guarantee any score, percentile, rank, admission, or outcome. Any mastery score, "recoverable marks", or estimate is a statistical study aid based on your Platform activity, not a prediction or assurance of real performance. Results depend on your own effort and factors outside our control.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Platform and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind (including merchantability, fitness for a purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement). We do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or secure service, or that content (solutions, answer keys, difficulty tags, analytics) is complete or current; we correct errors on a best-efforts, fix-forward basis. The Platform is not professional, admissions, financial, or career advice.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Odvanta and its proprietor are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, admission, or exam outcomes. Our total aggregate liability for all claims is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid Odvanta for the Subscription in the 3 months before the event, or (b) INR 1,000. Nothing excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law.

12. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold harmless Odvanta and its proprietor against claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the Platform or content (including scraping/redistribution), your submissions, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Third-party services

The Platform relies on Supabase (auth, database, hosting of account data), Google ("Sign in with Google"), Razorpay (payments, planned), Resend (transactional email such as OTPs), and Netlify (web hosting, planned), each governed by its own terms. We are not responsible for their acts, availability, or policies.

14. Availability, changes & suspension

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features or the Platform, with reasonable notice where practicable, and may suspend access to protect the Platform, users, or our rights, or to comply with law.

15. Termination

You may close your account anytime via Settings (delete account) or support@odvanta.com; data deletion is handled per the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms (especially Sections 5 and 8) or where required by law. Sections that should survive termination do.

16. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Kolkata, West Bengal, India have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to Section 17.

17. Dispute resolution

First contact support@odvanta.com and try in good faith to resolve the dispute (we aim for 30 days). If unresolved, it may be brought before the courts at Kolkata, which have exclusive jurisdiction; these Terms do not require arbitration, and nothing limits your rights as a consumer to approach a Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. Either party may still seek urgent interim or injunctive relief from the Kolkata courts (e.g. to protect IP).

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms; we will revise the date above and notify material changes in-app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
